Aloe Vera

You’ve probably heard that aloe vera is great for your skin, but you might not know just how much it can do for your complexion or why exactly it works so well. The use of this plant has been recorded for years as being able to soothe skin.

It’s common in skincare products used to treat sunburned, irritated or dry skin and can be a great addition to your routine.

Where do I use aloe vera in my skincare routine?

Aloe vera is very common in after-sun products, which are products used to calm skin as soon as it has been burned by the sun.

You can also make it a regular part of your routine by choosing a moisturiser containing aloe vera, or using it in a toner or facial mist to cool and hydrate your skin. This is an easy ingredient to incorporate into your routine as it’s versatile, and has a low likelihood of irritating sensitive skin.

What to look for on product labels…

Usually aloe vera is easy to find on labels as it tends to be listed just as ‘aloe vera’, so it’s not confusing to search for when shopping.

Liquid aloe is often used in products in concentrations of 15%-20%, so if you’re looking to have aloe vera as an active ingredient, check to see if the concentration matches this, or that it’s high up the list of ingredients. This is particularly important if you are looking to soothe dry skin, or use aloe vera to fight dehydration.
